There are many times I still miss southern California, the sun and user friendly beaches. After moving from San Diego to Portland 12 years ago I don't think I have ever truly felt like a permanent resident here. This morning I sat by my front window and looked at the inches of snow left by a night of flurries and realized how much I love the unpredictability of the weather here.
I think I am, at last, feeling like this is home. How many places can give you beautiful trees, days of spring-like weather followed by snow combined with sunshine? The constant change offers some excitement from one of the most mundane things of every day life, the weather.
